Choosing which of the UK’s amazing hen party houses is best for a hen weekend away with your friends is a minefield. We’ll take you through an overview of the best hen party house providers so you can decide who to book with.

Why Are Hen Party Houses A Good Idea?

When it comes to choosing where to stay for your hen, there is a range of options. Most groups choose to stay at one of the following:

  • Hen party houses or apartment rentals
  • Hotels
  • Glamping

However, at Plan The Hen we would definitely always lean more towards booking hen party houses for your weekend away with the girls rather than a hotel. That said, Glamping is definitely a fun option too.

Renting a house for your hen weekend is one of the most popular choices, purely because it gives you by far the most ‘together’ kind of experience, especially if you are a large group of hens.

You get your own large kitchen so you can either cook together or bring in a professional caterer to make you all a big fancy meal. The other huge benefit of renting a house for your hen do is that loads of the large group houses come with really fun features.

Try looking for hen party houses with a…

Hen Do Houses – Who Should I Book With?

How often do you get the chance to live in a huge house with your best pals for a couple of days?

While many hen do houses are privately owned and it is possible to book direct with the owners, there are also a number of companies that specialise in finding and booking your accommodation for you.

If you want to live it up in a hen party house or flat, here are the main providers in the UK:

1. AirBnB

AirBnB is an online service that lets you browse through hundreds of thousands of houses and flats that are available for short to mid-term rent.

They operate globally, so they’re also a good option if you are planning a hen party abroad, and you can search using filters to sift through all the options and immediately see which options are in your area and your price bracket. Want to see hen party houses with a hot tub or hen party houses with an indoor pool? There’s a filter for that!

Another handy feature that AirBnB has is that you can filter for flats and houses where the host allows parties – this is obviously critical for your hen party weekend!

Check out Hen Do Houses and Apartments on AirBnB.

2. Kate & Tom’s

Kate & Tom’s are a much more boutique hen party houses booking option. They describe themselves as a kind of ‘friendly luxury’ which started off as just one big cottage to rent and has turned into a celebration house rental company with 10 houses of their own and listings of 250 further properties.

They have a “hen party house of the month” feature which highlights one of their most exciting hen party houses each month. They specialise is large country houses in places like The Cotswolds and The Lake District, but can also help you find the perfect pad in the city too.

What we LOVE about Kate & Tom’s is the feature that lets you search by a key feature of the property. For example, you can search only for houses that have a private Tennis court (perfect for a Wimbledon-themed hen?), or houses with an indoor pool or that are near the beach.

They have some truly stunning houses that you won’t be able to stop instagramming once you arrive!

3. Freedom Ltd

If you’re looking for a particular type of hen party house then it would be a good idea to check out the offerings from British family-run company, Freedom Ltd.

For example, if you’re looking for a hen party house with a pool, they’ve got a whole section dedicated to just that!

Freedom are also a great shout if you’re looking for any of the following:

  • Hen Party Houses with Hot Tubs
  • Hen Party Houses with a Games Room
  • Mansions to Hire
  • and much more.

4. Celebration Cottages

Celebration Cottages specialises in finding you the perfect abode from their selection of hen party houses, or also for other celebrations, as it says on the tin. They focus on listing luxury accommodation with hot tubs and pools so if you’re looking for a relaxed getaway style hen weekend, they might be a good one to book with.

You’ll find a vast selection of hen do houses on Celebration Cottages and there is something to fit every group size too. The largest we could find on their site was a “cottage” that sleeps 40 HENS! So this is a great option if you are looking for extra large hen party houses.

They also offer fun add-ons like celebration balloons being organised for your arrival at the property or a chef being there to cook a meal for you.

We also really like that on their website they show you the bed configurations for each house so you can easily sort out sleeping arrangements – handy!

5. Partyhouses.co.uk

Party Houses was established in 2004 and has many years of experience organising large-group get togethers – so they definitely know a thing or two about finding you one of the best hen party houses in the country.

They’ve got a huge catalogue of unique and character properties to rent across the UK, many of which would make the perfect hen party setting.

What we particularly like about Party Houses is their attention to the requirements of guests with a disability. They’ve made sure that where possible, their houses have wheelchair access and ground-floor bedrooms and wet rooms and they can also lend you any ramps or a Deafguard to ensure that all guests are safe in their properties.

We really like how friendly and approachable the small team at Party Houses is – their attention to detail would definitely mean your hen do is a great one!

6. GoHen

GoHen are actually a lot more than just a hen party accommodation site. They’ve been putting together full hen and stag trips complete with accommodation and activities since 1999.

But even if it’s just hen party houses you’re after, they can help you find hen houses across the whole of the UK and they’re really good at seeking out those snazzy features that hens love – cinema room, anyone?

In addition, GoHen can also help you find other types of hen accommodation such as hotels and glamping options.

7. Sleeps 12

Sleeps12.com does even more than it says on the tin. They can help you find fantastic group accommodation for up to 44 hens. While their website is relatively basic, it’s definitely worth checking out the hen do houses they list which are mainly based around the counties of Somerset and Devon.

You can also add handy filters to your search, handy if you are looking for a very particular type of hen house, for example a Château!

8. Acacia Cottages

Based in Bristol, Acacia Cottages offer both hen do houses and hen do packages all over the UK. They’ve handpicked their selection of properties to ensure they’re all a perfect location for you and your pals.

You can search by location or check out their suggestions for hen weekend houses with hot tubs and pools. You’ll also be allocated a specialist Acacia Adviser who will help you with every step of planning your hen getaway which is a really nice added touch!

We’ve double-checked that the group accommodation booking companies that are listed here all accept hens. Sometimes accommodation providers choose not to let their properties out to hen and stag groups for fear of wild parties causing damage, but these providers all specialise in throwing you the best hen weekend ever.

9. Sykes Holiday Cottages

Sykes Holiday Cottages are one of the larger group accommodation sites in the UK, and while they don’t specialise in hen and stag accommodation like some of the others listed here, the big advantage with them is their knowledge and coverage of the UK.

To find a hen do house on Sykes Holiday Cottages you need to make sure you tick the ‘Accepts hen/stag parties’ filter since not all their properties are suitable for hosting a wild hen weekend.

Sykes recommend you get in touch before booking one of their hen party houses.

10. Mulberry Cottages

Mulberry Cottages is another provider that specialises in finding you hen do houses for large numbers of hens. What we really like is that they also have a checkbox to allow you to include properties that allow dogs – what could be better than a dog-friendly hen?!

11. Big House Experience

Gareth and Claire Allen started their family-run business, Big House Experience to provide a “luxury as standard” style of accommodation for large groups wanting to go away together.

They have a small, curated selection of large group hen party houses that they have personally chosen and would be excited to stay in themselves – we think that’s a great approach and really helps you narrow down your options.

We really love the specialised and friendly approach Big House Experience have taken when it comes to planning your hen weekend.

12. Crown the Hen

Crown the Hen are a hen do house booking company based on the south coast who can also help you with other aspects of your hen weekend. Their catalogue of hen do pads isn’t just limited to the south coast as they also have properties in Bournemouth and Norfolk, although their compact selection doesn’t cover the rest of the UK.

Hen Party Houses FAQ

  1. How much does it cost to rent houses for hen dos?
Renting an entire house for your hen weekend isn’t necessarily a cheap option, however it also doesn’t have to cost the earth. The big advantage of booking as a large group means you can take advantage of group discounts and split the cost of the accommodation between you.

Hen do houses start at around £300 per night and can cost up to several thousand pounds per night, depending on the size, location and amenities.

If you’re just looking to book a hen do apartment in the city then prices are much cheaper, from around £100 per night.

  2. What is the maximum number of guests hen party houses can sleep?
Definitely one of the main reasons for choosing to rent a country house for your hen do is the fact that there are some HUGE options around the UK and therefore there is bound to be a place that can house your whole hen party. The largest number of guests at one property we have come across so far is 44 hens – but let us know if you’ve got somewhere that can house more!

  3. Is there a minimum number of nights to stay at a hen do house?
If your hen party is taking place over the weekend then there is likely to be a minimum stay requirement usually of 3 nights, but sometimes just 2 nights. If your group is super flexible and can fit in a hen party during the week then the accommodation providers are likely to be more flexible and you’ll probably get a cheaper rate too!

  4. How far in advance should you book hen party houses?
This depends on how flexible you are on location and cost, as well as how many hens you are bringing with you. If you’ve got a specific area you’d like to stay in then we recommend trying to have your hen accommodation pinned down at least 6 months in advance. If you need help on the timeline of organising the hen do, check out our free hen party planning checklist!

  5. Do you have to pay a deposit for a hen party house?
Almost definitely. Paying a security deposit of around 20% is completely normal when booking any kind of group accommodation, and it is even more standard for hen and stag parties due to the nature of the event. Check with your provider to see how much you need to set aside for this. Try not to break anything and you’ll get it back after your stay!

Did you book your stay at one of the best hen party houses in the UK with a great provider that’s not yet listed here? Get in touch or leave us a comment and we’ll be happy to add them in!
